HB 872 Utility Customers - Disclosure of Personal Information
The Texas Legislature recently passed HB872 regarding all government operated utility customer account information. Pursuant to Section 182.052 of the Texas Utilities Code, except as provided by Section 182.054, the City of Hutchins may not disclose personal information in a customer's account record, or any information relating to the volume or units of utility usage, or the amounts billed to or collected from the individual for utility usage unless the customer requests that the City of Hutchins disclose the information. Customers have the option to opt out of having their account kept confidential and can do so by completing the Request for Disclosure of Information form located below and returning it to Utility Billing.
